The 12000 Series, so called “long range” or “torque tube” types of level controllers, are commonly calssified as the “displacement” type. Actually, this designation applies also to ball float type controllers, since the float used for level measurement displaces its own weight in the liquid in which it floats. The distinction is that ball float controllers are “constant-displacement” types and the torque tube variety are “variable-displacement” types.
